Plantronics (NYSE: PLT) announced that its award winning portfolio of
unified communications products are now optimised for Microsoft® Lync™
2010 at the Microsoft Lync 2010 launch event in New York. Plantronics UC
audio solutions deliver plug-and-play simplicity, proven compatibility
and high-quality audio for Lync voice and video communications, enabling
end users to collaborate, anytime and anywhere.
A Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Plantronics previewed three new
products, Calisto® 825, Savi® 730 and Voyager™ PRO UC, that are
optimised for Microsoft Lync 2010. The Plantronics product preview
conveys a new connected experience that transforms business
communications with Lync 2010, a single client experience for IM, voice,
and video. With increases in the use of communication and collaboration
tools, Plantronics is delivering smarter solutions for communicating.

The Plantronics UC portfolio optimised for Lync 2010 gives IT
departments a single trusted vendor for a wide variety of audio
solutions that work across mobile phones, desk phones and PCs. The new
devices previewed today for Microsoft Lync 2010 combine next-generation
technology, high audio quality and elegant designs to let users
communicate in a way that is simpler and more intuitive, regardless of
what device they are using. The Plantronics UC product families and new
preview products include:
Plantronics Calisto: Wideband USB Phones
The Calisto family includes the new Plantronics Calisto 825, a
multi-device speakerphone that connects to a PC and a mobile phone and
seamlessly manages calls between them. It also features a unique
wireless microphone that provides unparalleled speakerphone audio
quality and freedom of movement. The Calisto 825 is ideal for
professionals who work at home or in an office and who primarily use the
PC and their mobile phone for calls.
Plantronics Savi: Wireless DECT™ USB Wideband Headsets
The Savi family includes the new Savi 730, a wireless headset system
that connects to multiple devices but allows you to manage all calls
from a single headset. This system unifies communication between your
PC, desk phone and now mobile phone calls. Users can also listen to any
PC-based audio including music players, streaming audio and video,
webinars and podcasts with Savi 730. The headset system features a
noise-canceling microphone, wideband audio support, and DECT wireless
technology, providing lifelike voice fidelity and the ability to roam up
to 100 metres from the base.
Plantronics Voyager UC: Bluetooth® USB Wideband Headset
For mobile professionals, the new Voyager PRO UC is the mobile office
realized. This headset system connects to a PC and mobile phone and
features smart sensor technology that allows you to answer calls simply
by placing it on your ear while simultaneously updating softphone
presence so colleagues know you are on a call. It also includes a mini
Bluetooth USB adapter for increased portability. Voyager PRO UC provides
superior noise and wind cancellation on both mobile phones and
softphones. The Bluetooth headset also supports multipoint technology
enabling users to switch between their mobile phone calls and PC calls
with the touch of a button.
Plantronics Blackwire™: Corded USB Wideband Headsets
Designed for in-office and mobile PC-based conversations, the Blackwire
family includes the Blackwire 420, a foldable headset designed for a
mobile worker, which can lay flat next to a laptop for portability. It
has in-line controls for volume, answer/end and mute. Installation is
easy via USB plug-and-play connectivity.
Pricing and Availability
Plantronics’ existing UC product portfolio optimised for both Microsoft
Office Communicator 2007 and Microsoft Lync 2010 are available today
through authorized Plantronics resellers. The new audio devices
previewed will be available in 2011.
