WorkSnug makes getting connected even easier
Now users can get connected and pay in just a few clicks with Skype Access
WorkSnug, the fast-growing community for mobile workers, along with the
global leaders in communication headsets, Plantronics, and leading
Internet communications company Skype today announce a collaboration to
help mobile workers find the best workspaces for their needs and
facilitate quick and easy pay-as-you-go internet access.
WorkSnug connects mobile workers to the nearest and best places to work
by showing users the closest WiFi hotspots and cafe workspaces. WorkSnug
currently has tens of thousands of workspace locations for mobile
workers to choose from and is today doubling this figure through the
partnership with Skype. In addition to enjoying a wider choice of places
to connect to the internet, WorkSnug users will also be able to find
Skype Access locations using WorkSnug’s innovative Augmented Reality
tool or by logging onto www.worksnug.com.
Skype Access is a product that lets Skype users quickly and easily
connect to the internet and pay-as-you-go by using their Skype Credit as
payment.
Since February 2010, WorkSnug has more than doubled its coverage and now
offers an excellent service in more than twenty of the world’s largest
cities, including London, Barcelona, Madrid, Berlin, Brussels, Paris,
New York, San Francisco and Amsterdam and is present in almost every
world city*.
“Skype prides itself on being easy, affordable and accessible to those
who wish to get connected, wherever they may be,” says Shadi Mahassel,
product manager for Skype Access. “Worksnug’s new mobile app makes it
simple for Skype users to find the closest Skype Access hotspot to
quickly get online for voice and video calls, instant messaging or
sending important emails and documents.”
WorkSnug founder Richard Leyland added, “It’s the whole package. Now
mobile workers will have more choice than ever before to find the right
WiFi enabled workspace, be able to easily connect to the internet, and
have an enjoyable communication experience.”
WorkSnug user feedback since launch has revealed that ambient noise is
the largest single barrier to productive and relaxing work in public
spaces such as cafes and public transport hubs, with the
Plantronics Decibel Meter app showing the average decibel reading to be
67dB - considerably higher than the recommended maximum noise level in a
workplace* for optimum concentration.
“As audio specialists and leading experts in the headset market, we at
Plantronics understand the acoustic challenges faced by mobile workers
and the importance of a quality sound environment,” said Stuart
Bradshaw, Plantronics EMEA Head of User Segment Marketing “Plantronics’
portable and Skype-certified headsets are ideal for mobile workers who
need to concentrate in a noisy environment. The .Audio 646 and .Audio
655 both feature noise-cancelling microphones and advanced DSP
technology that work together to ensure background noise is eliminated
and you can be heard clearly”.
Skype is offering customers 20% off the standard price of Plantronics’
Skype-certified .Audio 655 when purchased through the Skype Shop. For

WorkSnug features the addition of the Plantronics VoIP Checker, which
assesses public WiFi networks against a series of measures, including
jitter, latency and download speed which predict VoIP call performance.
Now users can make an informed decision on whether to use their
softphone to make a call or whether to use their mobile.
Check out WorkSnug whilst you’re in Barcelona to uncover several hundred
places to connect, including many around the congress venue, making this
the perfect app for MWC delegates and nomadic workers alike. WorkSnug
features ratings of WiFi, noise levels, power provision and even the
quality of the coffee. Reviews can be accessed at worksnug.com or by
downloading WorkSnug from the iTunes store.
WorkSnug is now also available for users of the Blackberry in addition
