Plantronics
(NYSE:PLT), a pioneer in wearable technology, announced that the
company’s manufacturing facility in Tijuana, Mexico, Plamex, has been
named the “Best Place to Work” in Mexico by the Great Place to Work
Institute for the fourth consecutive year, a distinction that continues
to validate the facility’s long-standing reputation as an exemplary
business entity in the region.
“We are very proud of everything the Plamex team has accomplished,” said
Alejandro Bustamante, senior vice president of operations at
Plantronics. “The Plamex culture is exemplary, the way we live our
values is second to none, and the employee commitment to help deliver
great results demonstrates that they are happy with what they do. Plamex
has become a benchmark in Mexico.”
A great place to work, as defined by the Great Place to Work Institute,
is “a place in which you trust the people you work for, have pride in
what you do, and enjoy the people you work with.” Employees from more
than 500 companies participated in the Great Place to Work Institute’s
survey that ranks companies based on credibility, respect, fairness,
pride, and camaraderie.
Plamex - A Legacy of Excellence
Plamex has been in operation for more than 40 years, has more than 2,000
employees, and provides more than 180 programs for their associates. The
secret is the Mission, Vision, and Values meetings, a one-hour weekly
meeting where Plamex leaders concentrate solely on creative ways to
improve the work environment by fostering a place of respect and trust.
Programs at the Mexico facility include everything from mass weddings
each Valentine’s Day to educational opportunities that help employees
further their education. The educational support programs at
Plamex have helped employees attain more than 2,300 degrees. For the
past five years, there have also been development programs that have
enabled more than 1,000 employees to grow into new roles in the company
rather than leaving Plantronics for professional growth opportunities.
The Plantronics Mexico team also engages with the community on many
levels including outreach to orphanages, donations to the community for
natural disasters, reforestation efforts, and education about recycling.
They encourage employee and family involvement and support the
Children’s Orchestra, the DARE Program and offer medical consultations
to family members at their facility.
