- Astronauts aboard each one of the 10 manned Gemini missions and 11 manned Apollo missions flew with Plantronics headsets.
- On July 20, 1969, the first words from the surface of the moon were delivered to the world through a Plantronics headset: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
- A Plantronics headset also communicated some famous words from a much more dire situation on Apollo 13: “Houston, we’ve had a problem.”
- Polycom’s first product, the SoundStation speakerphone with its iconic three-arm triangular design, debuted in 1992 and led the market in the 1990s.
